My short crime story The 13 Apostles was the winning entry in Red Bubble’s Crime Time 13 Bullets writing challenge.

My 350 word story, Tennis Courting, scooped 2nd place in the Red Bubble Twisted Tales ‘Racket” writing challenge.

My winning Twisted Tales story, The Fathers Sack Race, is now available to read on my blog A Short History of Writer Anti-Social Behaviour.

My short 350 word flash fiction story Tennis Courting is now up to read at A Short History of Writer Anti-Social Behaviour.

Written for Red Bubble’s Twisted Tales ‘racket’ challenge it tells the story of a young boy discovering his mother’s infidelities.

Let me know what you think!

Today’s word-of-the-day at dictionary.com was ‘adduce’ which has prompted my story Just One Drink at Short Short Stories.

I have also added Einfühlung, a story previously published at Red Bubble’s Twisted Tales, on my other blog A Short History of Writer Anti-Social Behaviour.

I hope you enjoy and, as always, constructive comments are welcomed and appreciated.

shortstorycd2009Congratulations to fellow writer and blogger Tania Hershman for being the European Regional Winner of the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association’s Short Short Story Competition

Tania’s fantastic winning story ‘Straight Up’ can be listened to here.

Tania’s debut collection of short stories The White Road is available to buy (and, yes, I have just ordered it!).

shakespeare1In addition to my Short Short Stories blog, which features all my flash fiction inspired by word-of-the-day at dictionary.com, I have also launched a brand new blog that collates all my fiction either published elsewhere online, in print or that is no longer available to read anywhere.

Called A Short History of Writer Anti-Social Behaviour I am hoping it will become a useful one-stop resource for those of you who do not want to have to trawl the net or visit other websites to read my fiction.

I aim to upload the stories there as often as possible.

My new story Causing A Stink is now available to read at Short Short Stories. Inspired by word-of-the-day ‘frowzy’ it is about one of those commuting moments from hell when you find yourself sat next to the train crazy!

For those of you who enjoy writing crime related fiction, you might be interested to learn about the Crime Writers Association Debut Dagger 2009 competition.

The 2009 Debut Dagger Competition runs from 1st November ‘08 – 7th February ‘09. All you need to do is send in the opening chapter(s) – up to 3000 words – and a short synopsis of your proposed crime novel, and you could become a published crime writer.

Winning the Debut Dagger doesn’t guarantee you’ll get published. But it does mean your work will be seen by leading agents and top editors, who have signed up over a dozen winners as well as shortlisted Debut Dagger competitors.

The Debut Dagger is open to anyone who has not yet had a novel published commercially. First prize is £500 plus two free tickets to the prestigious CWA Dagger Awards and night’s stay for two in a top London hotel.

All shortlisted entrants will receive a generous selection of crime novels and professional assessments of their entries, and will also be invited to the Dagger Awards.

Go here to find out more about how to enter.
